As humans, we need it. And as I get into my *ahem* late-30s, I find it harder and harder. Ultimately, this community is about forming real friendships, and walking through life together. You could use words like "networking" if you want... But we're chasing REAL human connection.

Meaning

What if there was a place that was Oprah's book club meets a secular place of worship meets philosophy class. That's what we're going for. We have BIG, REAL conversations about life and work. 

Growth

This site started as a careers site. And I don't care if you're in a traditional job or starting a business, if you're not growing, you're dying. We're dedicated to supporting each other to grow our ability to impact the world, take care of the people we love, do the work we need to, and build wealth.  

Hey, I'm Chris. I launched Roostervane in 2018 to teach what I knew about career-building to grads with advanced degrees. 

But being a careers blogger with a religious studies PhD led me to a question... What is a meaningful career? And since I define a career as much more than the job you're currently in, the bigger question is, "What makes a meaningful life?"

That led me to getting obsessed with work and purpose. 

In my day jobs, I've run projects for a think tank, built refugee programs with the government, launched my own consulting company, and I write and speak.
